If it's fake, it is very well done.
The tracking, the focus in/out, the sound...it all matches pretty well...
If it's real...what can I say?
UPDATE : It's been suggested on The 'Net that this is a viral marketing campaign for J.J. Abram's upcoming "secret project" (aka Clover, or Cloverfield, or Slusho or 1-18-08), which kind of makes sense since the idea of the project is some kind of alien invasion but Abrams is being very tight lipped about it all. But whether it is or not, it's still cool.
